Race step turn with support stroke.

The step turn on the fly Race 12’6”

You can see that you have to go a long way down the board to sink the tail enough to pivot the board. So as I go back I am doing a stroke and I will do a minor suport stroke to gain balance.

My first stroke is normaly a short one across the back of the board to get it moving, then I do not place the paddle to far forward for the strokes as if you do, you will level the board to much.

You can always do a support stroke if you loose balance, whether it is just while you are moving the blade forwards to do another stroke.

Or to level the board so we can go forwards to start paddling straight.
